GEAPP Sustainable Livelihood Literature Review

Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) is dedicated to creating and improving livelihoods during the energy transition. Supporting the productive use of energy (PUE), GEAPP invests in regions where energy access significantly boosts productivity, thereby impacting jobs and livelihoods. To harmonise metrics for evaluating these impacts, GEAPP commissioned a comprehensive review of sustainable livelihoods.

As part of this initiative, I played a crucial role in conducting the sustainable livelihoods review for GEAPP. During this project, I developed a detailed literature review report that explored existing evidence and methodologies for monitoring livelihoods improvements. My responsibilities included gathering data from various organisations, assessing key frameworks, and identifying a preferred approach for GEAPP. Additionally, I analysed the alignment of different livelihoods assessment methods with GEAPP's MEL framework and provided recommendations for a robust livelihoods monitoring strategy. This work culminated in a framework proposal to guide GEAPP's approach, enhancing its capacity to measure and report on livelihoods impacts effectively.
